“The importer of record is responsible for using reasonable care to enter, classify and determine the value of imported merchandise…an importer of record’s failure to exercise reasonable care could delay release of merchandise and, in some cases could result in the imposition of penalties.”
- As stated in Section 484 of the Tariff Act, as amended, (19 U.S.C. 1484)
About HS Codes
An HS commodity code or harmonized commodity code is an internationally
standardized code assigned to a good and maintained by the World Customs
Organization. Almost all countries use HS codes to determine tariff classifications and corresponding duty rates. An HS code is a six-digit code and
used on the international level.
About HTS Codes
Individual countries add a suffix to the international HS code for country-specific identification. The United States uses an HTS code to identify the duty rate the goods are subject to. The HTS code is ten digits.
TRG Classify™ will identify all country specific regulations.
About Duty Rates
TRG Classify™ goes one step further. After the instant identification of your product’s HTS code, TRG Classify™ will display the corresponding duty rate.
The duty rate is the percentage of the value of the goods that you will pay in Customs taxes. Misclassification could cause you to overpay!
