On July 25th, seven Trade Risk Guaranty employees participated in the Godfrey Saunders Run for Social Justice. We agreed that this was a worthy cause for the company to promote wellness as well as our diversity & inclusion efforts.<\/h3>\n

Participants in the Godfrey Saunders Run for Social Justice<\/a> walked or ran 5k or 10k, or rode bikes 10k or 20k on their own. This event was held virtually to avoid the spread of COVID-19. However, in the future, organizers hope to make it an annual in-person summer run.<\/p>\n

The run is named in honor of Godfrey Saunders. He overcame many obstacles in his life to complete his education and become a teacher, which was the beginning of a long and successful career as an educator. Saunders is the current Belgrade public school superintendent and was Bozeman High School\u2019s principal from 1997 to 2009.<\/p>\n

This year, the money raised by the Godfrey Saunders Run for Social Justice run will go to the Black Student Union at Montana State University<\/a>. The purpose of the Black Student Union is to advocate for the black community, promote leadership, embrace & educate about black culture & issues from black students\u2019 perspectives, provide a safe space for the black community, and represent & remind black students that they are not alone.<\/p>\n

Trade Risk Guaranty\u2019s Participants<\/h2>\n

The race participants at TRG chose to take part in this event in several ways.<\/p>\n

TRG\u2019s Founders, John and Laura Michel, participated by hiking one of Montana\u2019s best trails. They are regular hikers in the Big Sky area.<\/p>\n

TRG team member Haley Mummert chose to do a solo 20K bike ride through a few of Bozeman\u2019s many in-town bike trails, including the Gallagator and Kagy Trails. During her bike ride, Haley listened to a playlist that included songs by her favorite music artists of color. She is currently sporting an impressive t-shirt tan as a result.<\/p>\n

TRG team member Travis Smith (right) biked the race while on vacation with his brother (left). Travis is an avid biker, so this event was a piece of cake for the veteran cyclist.<\/p>\n

TRG team members Geneva Wild, Courtney Dresden, and Meredith Lambert biked with Kevin Banogon (non-employee). They started from the Bozeman Library, biked to the popular trailhead of the M, and then biked back. Meredith mentioned that it was a nice peaceful ride through the outskirts of Bozeman, where they saw a deer and two fawns on the way back. They posted a short video of their ride on YouTube, which is embedded below.<\/p>\n
