Whether you are looking to reduce your carbon footprint or the notches on your belt, there is no better chance than the month of May to bike to work.
For the month of May businesses across Montana will be competing to see which organization’s employees can log the greatest amount of miles walking, biking, and/or commuting. The rules are pretty simple, for each trip made to and from work employees will log the distance. At the end of May, an individual’s mileage will be tallied up with their coworkers’ to form the team’s total mileage. The business with the highest mileage wins.
You may not be aware of this, but we get pretty darn stoked about Bike to Work month here at TRG, as we’re all very outdoorsy. Last year we crushed the local competition and nabbed ourselves the number one spot for Bozeman. It should come as no surprise that you will commonly see staffers with their bikes next to their desks. Most notably, Gregg Cummings, who typically champions the twenty or so miles from his house each day. Needless to say, May couldn’t come any sooner.
Bragging aside, this really is a great opportunity to kick start another excellent summer with a healthy boost to your mind, body, and soul. Personally, I am stoked to get back in shape, especially after the lackluster ski season we experienced. Even, if you don’t live in Montana I challenge you to have your own bike to work month, or why not start a competition in your city? Grab your car keys and flush ’em down the toilet. As Travis Smith eloquently put it, “It’s time to crush some pedals!”
